Pet Of The Week

Meet Dobby

Please meet Dobby! He is an approximately 5-year-old Doberman Pinscher mix who came into rescue by way of our local humane society. He wasn’t real comfortable at the shelter, but has been loving life in his foster home and has fit into this comfy life just fine! Dobby weighs about 80 pounds, is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines.

Dobby is house trained, crate trained, does well with other dogs, both large and small, and has been around children ages 3 to 10 with no issues at all. He is unknown with cats, but after a careful introduction, may be fine with a dog-savvy cat. Dobby has great house manners, but when he’s excited, he can be a bit like a bull in a China shop..haha! He has no food aggressive issues with the 2 dogs in his foster home, and is even happy to share the food that hits the floor with them.

Dobby has a couple granulomas on his lower legs from compulsive licking. This is being treated with a topical spray, which has helped the issue. And, his eyesight may not be what it used to be, but it doesn’t seem to slow him down at all. His foster home has stairs, which he has no issue navigating.

From Dobby’s foster family: Dobby is going to make a wonderful companion for a very lucky adopter! He is very loving and likes to stand with his head in your lap. Dobby really enjoys being petted and rubbed. He likes to ride in the car or truck and loads up easily. I don’t think Dobby had spent much time in a house before we got him, he loves it now! He seemed a little unsure and had a funny grin on his face like he couldn’t believe he was really on the inside. He has since become very comfortable, loves all of the toys and the dog beds. He usually carries a toy around in his mouth. As the weather has gotten colder, we got him a coat. He seems to like it a lot. I would recommend that he live inside and think he deserves a warm place.

If you think Dobby may be the one for you, please go to our website at and fill out an application to adopt. Please be sure to include a vet reference as regular vet care is important to us for the health of all our adopted dogs. With approval and a $295 adoption donation, he will be ready to accompany you on all of life’s many adventures! Dobby is neutered, microchipped, fecal tested clean of internal parasites and up to date on all his vaccinations, including rabies.
