Actress Shannen Doherty, best known for her role as Brenda Walsh on the FOX teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, died Saturday (July 13) at the age of 53 following a years-long battle with breast cancer, her publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE Sunday (July 14) morning. Also, Fitness guru Richard Simmons, known for his energetic personality and high-intensity workout programs, passed away at the age of 76. Simmons, who stepped away from the public eye in 2014, had recently celebrated his 76th birthday and expressed gratitude for his life and the opportunity to help others. According to TMZ, Simmons’ housekeeper called 911 around 10 a.m. on Saturday (July 13). When police arrived, they found Simmons unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected, and officials believe he died of natural causes. Earlier this year, Simmons revealed that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer.
